Part-time (less than 30 per week).
Responsibilities
- The scope of the Student Nurse Extern position encompasses a continuum of pediatric nursing care for developmentally delayed children ranging from preschool through adolescence and ends in early adulthood.
- The Student Nurse Extern will function under the continuous guidance, supervision, assistance and support from both Registered Nurses and Licensed Practice Nurses.
- Student Nurse Externs will utilize the nursing process to guide the provision of novice level pediatric developmental disabilities nursing care for selected residents in all three (3) skill domains: [1] Clinical/Technical Skills, [2] Critical Thinking Skills, and [3] Interpersonal and Communication Skills.
- With guidance, support, assistance and under the direct supervision of an R.N., demonstrate the competencies needed to ensure the provision of safe pediatric developmental disabilities, nursing care for selected residents.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be an active student who is in their last year or entering their last year of an accredited school of nursing.
