What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-time Laundry Aide (Monday - Friday, 2:30pm - 10:30pm) position at St. Edmond's Home for Children?
Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 2:30pm - 10:30pm (80hrs biweekly)
Essential Job Functions
- Collect, sort, count, weigh, separate items that require special stain removal/treatment and wash soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas in accordance with established procedures.
- Fold, count, stack, hang and distribute clean laundry/linen, garments, etc., to residents daily and/or as instructed.
- Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from equipment or floor surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions. Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.
- Press/iron garments as instructed.
- Restock supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Safety and Sanitation
- Assure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures.
- Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor.
- Coordinate isolation procedures with nursing services.
- Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
Equipment and Supply
- Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
- Report all equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the supervisor as soon as practical.
- Assure that an adequate supply of laundry/linen supplies are maintained in laundry/linen closets to meet the daily needs of the residents.
- Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary/directed.
- Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, excess laundry carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull and move residents, equipment, supplies, etc., up to 200 pounds with assistance.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior Laundry experience preferred
