What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Teacher - Part Time position at St. Edward Central Catholic High School?

- At least 3 years of school-based teaching experience (preferably in Catholic Schools)
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field. Current Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) Certification with appropriate endorsement(s). *Fine Arts Teacher Certification Preferred.
- Understanding and experience with curriculum design, planning and instruction in the arts.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral).
- Supervises students in a variety of school related settings including but not limited to sporting events, art related experiences, field trips.
- Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Monitors appropriate use, care, and safety of equipment, materials and facilities.
- Manages classroom organization
- Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community.
- Works cooperatively with the administration and staff to schedule meetings.
Develops and administers art education curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives. - Develops balanced art program and lessons to organize class time so that students have adequate time for preparation, experiential learning, and instruction.
- Utilizes repertoire of all types of art mediums, as appropriate.
- Plans, coordinates, and directs students in art shows & experiences outside the classroom.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate art supplies and equipment, maintains inventory records, ensures that all art supplies are safely stored, and ensures equipment is in good working order.

PART-TIME VISUAL ARTS TEACHER – HIGH SCHOOL Grades 9-12
STARTING DATE: 2025-26 School Year
POSTION PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Curriculum Director: to develop students' skills in a wide variety of artistic mediums, including graphite, ink, pastels, watercolor, oils, clay, etc. In addition, to expose students to art history and artists and guide and assist art students that desire to develop an extensive portfolio to prepare for post-secondary educational experiences in the field of art.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Under the direction of the Building Curriculum Director, the educator will plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students.
Staff member will effectively perform the following duties in a timely manner.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Curriculum Director and other administrators as designated by the superintendent.
