Job Overview:

As an Activity Aide, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our participants by facilitating meaningful and stimulating activities. Your contributions will directly impact the well-being and happiness of those under our care.
Responsibilities:
- Prevent and manage varying behaviors among individuals with varying medical diagnosis.
- Administer CPR in emergency intervention if needed.
- Exhibit patience and understanding; be attentive to participants needs.
- Assist with daily feedings, toileting, personal hygiene, in addition to ambulation and transferring (wheelchair to chair) as needed.
- Assist in the implementation of activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being for participants.
- Engage with individuals in activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
- Support participants with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment conducive to various recreational activities.
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, and colleagues.
- Contribute to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all participants.
- Provide support in recreational therapy sessions (help people with specific conditions improve their skills, abilities, and overall health and emotional well-being).
- Report medical concerns to the Site Manager.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with participants, caregivers, and team members.
- Knowledge of caregiving principles and practices.
- Familiarity with recreational therapy techniques is a plus.
- Ability to engage individuals in activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- CNA preferred.
- Minimum of three years' experience as an activity aide in an adult day care setting, assistant living, nursing home, or long-term care facility.
- Core skills and respect for the elderly and persons with special needs. Must have the ability to recognize and have concern for the participants' needs, and the willingness to perform suitable services which are appropriate
- Premium skills in first aid, patient observation, cleaning, ADLs, and patient care
- Experience in assisted living, group home settings, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with care plans and senior care
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ability to problem solve, work independently, and adapt to changing priorities while exhibiting good time management skills.
Work Environment:
Employee may need to travel between St. Elizabeth’s Adult Day Care Centers in addition to the assigned day care center. This position may also require the employee to stand, stoop, kneel, crawl, or climb.
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily, as well as possess the skills to meet the demands outlined within this job description.
