Job Summary
The role of the Pharmacy Technician Coordinator is to provide quality pharmaceutical care to patients and to coordinate the pharmacy technicians daily workload. The technician, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and will assist with daily pharmacy duties and support various leadership responsibilities, such as, technician training, inventory optimization, and other assignments to support the pharmacy department as needed. The technician coordinator functions in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines and state and federal regulations. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description
Assist with the determination of daily assignments. Prioritize and delegate tasks and projects within the department. Schedule appropriate coverage when necessary. Provides ongoing oversight of daily technical functions addressing opportunities as they present themselves to assure that operational areas run smoothly, and the department meets demands for services in an accurate and timely manner.
Assist with the creation and coordination of work schedules, vacation schedules, time off and overtime. Assists with the development and maintenance of the technician and extern schedule. Assists with the variances with the technicians hours to minimize overtime while maintaining optimal patient care. Assists with the coordination and oversight of training and orientation for new technicians. This role will communicate appropriate communication to technicians and organize team meetings when necessary, including, huddles, 1:1; s and workflow meetings. The tech coordinator will assist with written and verbal communications as needed. Assists Manager with annual technician performance appraisals and annual competencies are completed. Maintains and updates the technicians job descriptions as needed.

- Provide administrative and operations support as needed, including:

- Possess a high school diploma or certificate
- PTCB or NHA certification
- Registered with the Board of Pharmacy in state of practice as applicable
- Customer service skills and reflect the ICARE attitude
- Understanding of Metric system and Rx calculations
- Medical terminology
- Inventory management
- Knowledge of Medication Safety
- Operations and workflow management
- Superior problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience in leading people and/or projects
- Experience with teaching and training
- 24 months pharmacy experience
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Prescription prior authorization submission experience
- Understanding billing prescription insurance claims
- Medicare B billing
- Know brand and generic medication names for the top 100 drugs as well as drug schedule and purpose
- 340B Purchasing Program knowledge
- Perform medication histories
- Expertise in USP 797/800 guidelines
- Previous Lead Tech/Tech III at St. Elizabeth Healthcare or 1 year leadership experience at previous role
