Job Description
Grief Counseling
- Offers/provides counseling for families with children directly affected by the prognosis of the Hospice patient.
- Offers/provides counseling for families with children directly affected by the death of the Hospice patient.
- Clinically supervises interns, practicum students, etc.
- Involved in the planning and organizing of the STARS program.
- Actively participates in meetings and ancillary services of the program x 90\%.
- Offers/provides consultation for bereavement services for community inquiries into the STARS program.
- Communicates promptly and accurately with team members with regard to referrals.
- Completes paperwork promptly.
- Reports progress on referrals to appropriate team members.
- Participates in IDT meetings a minimum of once per month.
- Facilitates support groups for schools or agencies as requested and as available.
- Provides consultation for community agencies as requested and as available.
- Involved in crisis-response as requested and as available.
- Seeks out educational opportunities to increase knowledge and effectiveness.
- Obtains sufficient education credits to maintain licensure/credentialing.
- Participates in peer group meetings as available.
- Assists with the overall Bereavement program as requested and as available.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling.
- Licensed Clinical Counselor or Clinical Social Worker.
- Knowledge of counseling methodologies, child development stages, and group dynamics.
- People oriented and possess basic counseling skills. Desire to work with children and adolescents in the area of grief and loss.
- 2 years of experience in clinical environment in which supervised counseling was offered.
- Experience in working with children within the realm of counseling or education.
