Job Summary
As a Medical Support Specialist with St. Elizabeth Healthcare, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care to support a unit or facility as directed by a Registered Nurse (RN). Your responsibilities will include facilitation of patient safety and environmental support activities.
About the Role
This position is part of our patient care delivery team, where you will collect basic laboratory specimens and two-hour troponins, collect legal alcohol specimens, perform EKG's and 2-hour EKG's with troponins, assist with lifting and transporting, perform vital signs, clean and bandage wounds, splinting to fractures and other duties as delegated by the nursing staff within scope of training. You will also transport patients to testing and follow all policies and procedures in the collection of laboratory samples and in the performance of EKG's, in an accurate and timely fashion.
Key Responsibilities
* Collect quality samples according to laboratory policies and procedures for the accurate and timely completion of testing
* Order tests and place calls as needed according to policy and procedure
* Assist with medical record keeping processes, order entry, phone management
* Assist nursing staff in addressing patient care needs, rounding frequently and ensuring that environment is conducive to care
