The Quality Assurance Engineer analyzes the product and process quality and overall fitness of iDirect products (hardware and software) through a combination of hands-on technical work and analysis of data. This role will interface directly with Product Management, Design Engineering, Compliance and Safety Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing Test Engineering, and Global Technical Center (TAC) to effectively improve iDirect product and process quality and business processes. The Quality Assurance Engineer will help ensure that industry best practices, such as DFMEA, Control Plans, Critical to Quality (CTQs), Six Sigma, and 8D Corrective Actions are designed into iDirect’s development and support processes and systems. They will own all corrective action investigations for their product lines and participate in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process including onsite qualification of pilot runs at production facilities. This position is for a key leadership role in managing a complex product portfolio across the full product lifecycle and requires a high level of ownership and comfort taking initiative to drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle for design, NPI, manufacturing, field use, and end of life
- Create and maintain Quality Plans, Process FMEAs, Control Plans, First Article Inspection Reports to implement and verify quality requirements
- Interface directly with contract manufacturers to ensure quality requirements are implemented, maintained, and drive continuous improvement
- Perform statistical analysis to qualify new product processes, monitor ongoing performance, and support data driven decisions throughout the organization (Measurement system analysis, Capability studies, DOE, hypothesis testing)
- Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations using the 8D methodology to drive product and process improvements
- Act as part of the MRB team to review and disposition product non-conformances for new product and field returns
- Assist with writing and maintaining internal process documentation to meet our ISO 9001, AS9100 and other quality system registrations
- Review proposed engineering changes, and drive implementation and verification once released to manufacturing and the field
- Work with the customer support team to react quickly to customer needs, and provide feedback to customers for ongoing investigations
- Perform audits to process or product requirements locally, and on site at component suppliers or contract manufacturers
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field
- 3-5 years of quality related work experience in hi-tech electronics industry, RF experience preferred
- Experience with electronic SMT assembly manufacturing, IPC standards including 610, 620, 7711, 7721
- Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities in a fast-paced hi-tech environment
- Must have excellent software skills and ability to analyze large data sets in Minitab or other statistical software packages
