Job Title: Childcare DirectorJob Summary:
The Childcare Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining high standards of care and education, and managing a team of staff. The director is also responsible for creating a safe, enriching, faith-filled and positive environment for children and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management & Supervision:
- Lead, supervise, and support the childcare staff, ensuring a high standard of care and safety.
- Hire, train, and evaluate staff, including teachers, assistants, and support personnel.
- Schedule staff shifts and manage payroll, ensuring appropriate coverage for all hours of operation.
- Conducts performance reviews and provides ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities in collaboration with the principal.
Child Development:
- Implement and maintain a curriculum that supports child development and learning in accordance with play-based learning.
- Ensure that activities are age-appropriate and foster emotional, social, and cognitive development.
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure the childcare facility is clean, safe, and in compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.
- Oversee the maintenance of child safety protocols, including emergency procedures, child-to-staff ratios, and first aid measures.
- Monitor and assess children's health, providing guidance to parents and staff as necessary.
- Parent Relations:
- Communicate with parents and guardians regularly regarding their child's progress and any issues or concerns.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records for all children, including enrollment forms, health records, attendance, and incident reports.
- Develop and manage the center’s budget, including financial planning, expense tracking, and resource allocation in collaboration with the principal.
- Program Development:
- Plan, implement, and oversee age-appropriate educational programs, activities, and events.
- Create and execute Summer Programming.
- Organize field trips, holiday events, and special activities that enhance the children’s learning experience.
- Community Outreach:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, schools, and other local groups.
- Promote the center and its programs to prospective families and maintain an ongoing marketing strategy.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in childcare, early childhood education, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a childcare setting.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices in child care.
- Ability to manage budgets and staffing schedules effectively.
- Familiarity with state and local licensing requirements for childcare facilities.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks, including record keeping, scheduling, and report generation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, assist with children’s mobility, and engage in physical activities with children.
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods, as well as participate in activities that support child development.
Work Environment:
- The role will be primarily based at the childcare facility, with occasional meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
- Exposure to children, staff, and families in a lively, dynamic environment.
