Summary:
The Sleep Lab Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the sleep lab, ensuring the highest quality patient care, compliance with regulatory standards, and efficient workflow. This role includes supervising sleep technologists, managing scheduling, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols. The supervisor must maintain competence and have the ability to work evening or overnight shifts.

Essential Functions:
- Oversee the daily operations of the sleep lab to ensure efficiency and quality in sleep study procedures.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in alignment with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) standards and other governing bodies.
- Recruit, train, and manage sleep technologists and other lab personnel.
- Schedule and assign staff to ensure adequate coverage for sleep studies.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure high-quality patient care and a comfortable, safe environment for all patients undergoing sleep studies.
- Oversee scoring and interpretation of sleep studies, ensuring accuracy and adherence to clinical guidelines.
- Address patient concerns and coordinate with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Maintain and troubleshoot sleep study equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment maintenance, calibration, and supply management.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure documentation meets compliance standards.
- Prepare reports and monitor key performance indicators related to sleep lab operations.
- Assist in budget management, cost control, and financial planning for the sleep lab.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Knowledge of AASM guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and other compliance standards.
Licenses/Certification:
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sleep medicine with 1-2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
