Essential Job Functions
Responsible for planning and implementing a program to teach young children. Ensures the development and safety of the children in accordance with relevant Federal, State and County policies and regulations.
Requirements
Educational Requirements :
BA Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education including core courses (Child / Home Growth and Development; Child, Family and Community; Program / Curriculum or related field, requiring transcripts from accredited college or University.
OR A valid Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) with a minimum of one (1) year work experience in an Early Childhood classroom.
OR Education and experience that meets the Career Access and Navigation of Early Childhood System (CANOES) Registry qualifications for Group Child Care Center Teacher.
Experience Requirements :
Knowledge in the following areas : child development and early education theories and practices, safe and appropriate activities for children, and relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure that children are supervised and safe at all times.
Skills Required :
Effective verbal and listening communication skills. Stress management and time management skills. Team building, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Must be presently or willing to register by fingerprinting with the Department of Human Services.
Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification and First Aid certification.
Requires contacts both inside and outside at all organizational levels. Requires considerable tact, discretion and persuasion to obtain results.
