Overview
The Special Education Paraprofessional plays a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs within the classroom environment. This position involves working closely with 1-3 Kindergarten students, their teachers, parents, and support persons to ensure that educational goals are met effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for education and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere for students with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs.
Duties
- Assist in the implementation of the Individualized Services Plan (ISP) tailored to meet the unique needs of the student.
- Support classroom instruction by providing targeted assistance in literacy education and behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and adapt curriculum materials that accommodate various learning styles.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to promote understanding and support for each student's educational journey.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to educators regarding individual student performance.
- Engage in early childhood education activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting diverse learners preferred but training is provided
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate and interact with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team within a classroom setting.
- Experience and desire to work with children and in an education setting.
- A genuine commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment for all students.
- Successful completion of the child safety requirements of the Archdiocese of St. Louis and signed Witness Statement For Those Who Serve in Catholic Education
