We are currently recruiting for a Barrel Crew for our Production team. The incumbent will perform cellar work as needed throughout the year and during harvest. This position may also be required to fill in on the Bottling Line when needed.

This is a regular, non-exempt position with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week. Overtime and

flexibility of schedule are required, particularly during harvest.

The anticipated pay range for this position is between $18.00 and $20.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Barrel/Cellar Operations

• Performs all work functions required in the barrel cellars, including barrel inventory and tracking; storing and maintaining barrels; barrel quality control checks; forklift driving and moving/stacking barrels; washing /steaming and ozoning barrels; receiving, swelling, filling and emptying barrels, adding fining agents to barrels; lees stirring and Chardonnay protocols; specialized pumping and topping; and adding sulfuric acid to wine and sulfur gassing empty barrels.
• Performs cellar work as needed throughout the year including running all equipment such as pumps, filters, mixers, making additions to tanks, racking and blending.
• During harvest, responsible for pump overs, receiving grapes, racking, topping, transferring wine/juice and sanitation. Harvest crush pad operations include crusher, sorting table, must pump and wine press.
• Follows work orders in the performance of daily barrel work activities to ensure prioritized completion of work orders and winemaking activities.
• Follows all winery sanitation and green standards, including adherence to proper sanitation techniques for cleaning, sanitizing and storing all winery equipment and for the operational set-ups for all routine winery work such as wine transfers, barrel/tank preparations, etc.
• May be required to fill in on the Bottling Line when needed, rotating between various functions including dumping (empty glass), foiling, packing, stacking and palletizing (finished cases) and line clean-up.
• Fully supports the Winery’s policies and procedures.
• Fully supports the Winery’s commitment to the established Safety practices and policies. Properly uses safety equipment and operates Winery machinery in a safe and responsible manner. Reports any unsafe acts and conditions.
• Supports and demonstrates commitment to the Company’s sustainability and green initiatives/practices, including energy and resource efficiency, recycling programs, etc.
• Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
• Demonstrates leadership, serving as a role model in the performance of all operating procedures, promoting teamwork, open communication and fair and efficient supervision.
• Addresses any issues that may arise, referring problems that need addressed and resolved to the Production Manager when appropriate.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in all phases of cellar/barrel operations
• Forklift certification preferred but not required.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Must be able to follow directions and communicate effectively with management and co-workers.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
• Ability to learn quickly, work well as part of a team and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be flexible to perform various tasks and change priorities as needed.
• Must be punctual, maintain good attendance and work flexible schedules and overtime as needed.
• Able to repetitively lift and carry up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
• Understand and observe Winery policies, practices and procedures.
• Understand and observe Winery’s established Safety practices and policies.
