Job Summary:
St. Francis Xavier Catholic School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Counselor to support the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of our students. Rooted in our Catholic values, the School Counselor will work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, and administration to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support:
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students' academic, social, and emotional well-being.
- Assist students in developing problem-solving skills, emotional regulation, and resilience.
- Offer guidance on academic planning, goal-setting, and personal growth.
School & Community Collaboration:
- Work closely with teachers and administrators to identify and support students with behavioral, social, or academic concerns.
- Partner with parents to provide resources, strategies, and support for their child's success.
- Serve as a liaison between families and outside support services when needed.
Program Development & Implementation:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate social-emotional learning (SEL) programs and character education initiatives.
- Lead workshops and presentations on topics such as conflict resolution, mental health awareness, and positive decision-making.
- Assist with crisis intervention and provide immediate support when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- State certification/licensure as a School Counselor (or ability to obtain).
- Experience working in a school setting, preferably in a Catholic or faith-based environment.
- Strong understanding of child development, social-emotional learning, and mental health support.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- A commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
