Part time Reading Specialist (25/26 school year)

As a specialist, the Reading specialist will work with the Student Support Specialist to:

• Identify and group students in need of academic intervention using academic data, faculty referrals and student support plans.
• Establish a teaching schedule of targeted Reading interventions, using data to strategically group students and identify students in need of one-on-one instruction.
• Design, create and implement strategic and intensive Reading intervention lessons based on specific student needs.
• Continuously evaluate, assess and report on student progress and/or response to intervention.
• Help to support and manage school-wide implementation of the STAR diagnostic assessment 
• Support internal academic service providers, including faculty, staff and volunteers who provide academic interventions for students.

As an academic support, the Reading Interventionist will work with the administration to:

• Collaborate with grade-level reading faculty to differentiate all aspects of reading instruction, including lessons, classwork, homework, and assessments.
• Ensure that faculty have the necessary materials, resources, manipulatives, and data to support whole-class instruction and differentiation.
• Co-teach and push-in to grade-level classrooms, focusing on the successful inclusion of students receiving reading interventions.
• Continue to grow professionally, by seeking out and attending trainings and/or professional development opportunities.

• Communicate regularly with parents about student performance and classroom expectations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including but not limited to one minor duty, such as proctoring lunch , and one major duty, such as teaching an elective.
