Position Overview:
This position assists in the development and implementation of evidence-based public health programs, promotional activities and interventions. This position exercises considerable independence and initiative in the performance of responsibilities; receiving general administrative direction.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating community health programs in the county as they relate to the priority health issues of the agency.
- Collect, analyze and disseminate information regarding major health problems, behavioral risk factors, and health attitudes and knowledge, using epidemiological procedures; formulate disease prevention and health promotion strategies.
- Develop various educational materials such as brochures, exhibits, videotapes, and slides; employ mass media, group process, and counseling techniques in health education, health promotion, and behavioral risk reduction program activities.
- Provide assistance regarding the submission of applications for health education, behavioral risk reduction and health promotion program funds; monitor existing programs for compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Develops training programs; works with others to plan and implement health promotion programs and policies.
- Complete required trainings and continuing education credits to implement evidence-based public health interventions for the population served.
- Participate in community outreach and partnership to promote the agency’s services and benefits; compile reports, prepare speeches and deliver programs to civic and professional groups.
- Assist in other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Possession of High School Diploma or GED is required
- Associate’s Degree or certification in Health Education, Nursing, Public Health, Social Work, or related field preferred
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Complete 8 contact hours related to the individualized training needs identified in the training plan.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have insured and reliable transportation
- Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
- Light to moderate lifting is required
