Position Description:
Job Summary:
The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) will provide therapeutic services and interventions based on the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) model. The QMHP will work with children, adolescents, and families, especially those who have experienced trauma, neglect, or other significant emotional and behavioral challenges. The role requires an understanding of trauma-informed care, emotional regulation, and behavior management strategies, as well as a deep commitment to building trusting relationships and supporting family systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Service Delivery:
- Work on shift with Direct care staff to provide therapidic intervention using TBRI principles to guide interventions.
- Assess the emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of Residents.
- Provide Anger management intevention
- Collaborate with caregivers, educators, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for clients.
- TBRI Training and Support:
- Educate and support caregivers in the implementation of TBRI strategies to enhance attachment and improve behavior.
- Provide training and ongoing coaching to staff on trauma-informed practices and the core components of TBRI (Empower, Connect, Correct).
- Offer practical tools for caregivers to manage stress, improve communication, and foster healing relationships.
- Assessment and Documentation:
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ mental health and trauma histories, providing accurate diagnoses and recommendations for treatment.
- Complete all required documentation, including case notes, incident reports, and progress reports, in compliance with agency policies and legal requirements.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, school personnel, and medical professionals, to coordinate care.
- Participate in case reviews and contribute to team discussions regarding treatment plans and interventions.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Provide crisis intervention as needed, using trauma-informed techniques to de-escalate and support clients in distress.
- Ensure safety plans are in place and are effectively communicated to caregivers and team members.
- Professional Development:
- Stay informed about the latest research in trauma, mental health, and TBRI practices.
- Participate in training, supervision, and peer consultation to enhance clinical skills and maintain licensure.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor degree
- Licensure: Licensed QMHP

- Experience: Minimum of 2 years working with children or adolescents in a therapeutic setting, with experience in TBRI trauma-informed care or behavioral therapy.
- Training: Completion of TBRI Practitioner Training (or willingness to complete within a certain timeframe).
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of trauma and its impact on child development and behavior.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with children, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Crisis management and de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of residential service’s safety practices and protocols for children and adolescents.
- Flexibility and resourcefulness in dealing with new problems and changing circumstances.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
- Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.

- Travel: Occasional, Drives agency vehicle (Valid Texas Driver License required)
