Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at St. Helena Parish School District. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the principal and Auxiliary Service Supervisor to perform daily tasks and duties as assigned. This includes opening and securing buildings, meeting with the principal/supervisor to discuss physical plant conditions, and reporting any vandalism or maintenance issues immediately.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Facilities Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of classrooms, halls, main entrance, office areas, teacher workrooms, restrooms, and grounds. This includes sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and polishing floors, washing windows, moving furniture, and keeping grounds clean. They will also be responsible for removing all trash from classrooms, restrooms, office areas, teachers' workroom, etc., requisitioning janitorial supplies and equipment as needed, and initiating work requests through the principal/supervisor.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to stand, walk, reach, bend, climb, and lift up to 60lbs, and have basic knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in custodial work.
