What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Events and Alumni Engagement position at St. James Academy?
The Director of Events and Alumni Engagement is a key member of the Advancement Team, responsible for strengthening alumni engagement while planning, organizing, and implementing fundraising and community events. This role plays a vital part in increasing philanthropic support and fostering meaningful relationships within the school community. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, and passionate about event coordination and alumni relations.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage key advancement fundraising events, including:
- Trivia Night (January)
- Graduation (May)
- Golf Classic (June)
- Crimson Club (summer/August)
- Annual Auction (October)
- Other events supporting Advancement goals
- Serve as the designated on-site staff member at all Advancement fundraising events.
- Manage event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, budget oversight, and volunteer support.
- Collaborate with the Advancement Team on event marketing, including design, printing, mailing, website updates, and social media outreach.
- Develop and execute strategies to engage alumni through networking events, reunions, and communication efforts.
- Maintain and update alumni records in the school database.
- Create and distribute newsletters, emails, and social media content to keep alumni informed and involved.
- Establish mentorship and networking programs connecting alumni with each other and current students.
- Support alumni fundraising initiatives and giving campaigns.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Advancement and/or President.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the Mission and Values of St. James Academy.
- Ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic.
- Experience in event planning is required.
- Knowledge of fundraising and experience with OneCause or other auction fundraising programs (preferred).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- High integrity, accountability, and attention to detail when managing budgets and event planning.
- Proficiency in social media management, database software, and event coordination tools.
