Job Duties
The Resident Transportation Driver safely transports residents to and from various off-campus (physician's appointments, community events, etc.) and on-campus (special events or meals) locations using company vehicles and will help anyone in need of assistance when entering or exiting the vehicle or with any baggage. He or she is responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicles, reporting any defects or items of concern to the appropriate supervisor. Most importantly and without exception, the Driver operates within the legal speed limits and in a safe fashion at all times.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or Chauffeur’s License and a clean driving record
- 2 years of commercial or professional driving experience with a chauffer's license or CDL required
- Able to obtain a DOT Medical Card within 30 days of hire.
- First Aid/CPR certification a plus; ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
- At least 21 years of age for insurance purposes
- Must be able to identify common vehicle maintenance needs, such as checking fluid levels, maintaining tire pressure, performing vehicle safety checks (visual inspection of wipers, tires, etc.), and maintaining the vehicle in a clean condition (interior and exterior).
Physical Requirements: The Driver must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 60 pounds and be physically able to aid wheelchair-bound residents when loading and unloading the lift bus.
