The Transportation Supervisor supervises & schedules drivers to provide transportation to various resident activities and events as well as scheduled medical appointments. Supervisor will also coordinate bank deposits and other courier needs for staff and management. The Supervisor trains all drivers on vehicles, works with all Life Enrichment staff to ensure proper communication to residents of trips, determines the availability of drivers & vehicles, coordinates the fueling, cleaning and maintenance of all vehicles as budgeted.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement and a clean driving record.
- 2-3 years' experience driving commercial vehicles
- Knowledge or experience with general vehicle maintenance and repair
- Supervisory experience a plus
- Basic computer usage skills; ability to learn
- Must be able to push, pull, move and / or lift a minimum of 60 pounds, and be physically able to aid wheelchair-bound residents when loading and unloading the lift bus.

Responsible for the safe transport of residents to and from physician's appointments and community functions held off-site in accordance with the St. James Place Transportation Policy & Schedule.May provide on-campus transportation for events & meals when needed.Works with Life Enrichment Managers and Coordinators to ensure proper communication to residents of trips and determines availability of drivers.Schedules drivers to provide transportation to various resident activities (i.e. shopping, symphony, theatre, movies, etc.) as well as scheduled medical appointments and transportation around the campusCoordinates bank deposits and other courier needs for staff and management.Ensures that the expectations of the residents and visitors are consistently met through follow up and communication with drivers.Works with Director of Active Lifestyles or Director of Plant Services to keep vehicles properly maintained and in repair while staying within budget; reports any concerns to the Director of Active LifestylesKeeps a record of resident activities, noting any progress or decline; reports those to appropriate manager.Maintains knowledge of the SJP campus, including doors and buildings.Ensures the safety of passengers through safe driving habits and monitoring of other drivers; uses reasonable judgement in refusing driving services when a situation is considered hazardous.Maintains clear and valid commercial driver's license and adheres to all traffic rules.Leadership Functions
Provides effective supervision, motivation, and leadership to staff.Provides effective training to staff in areas of oversight and delegates duties where needed.Ensures accountability of staff and applies effective coaching, counseling and other disciplinary actions after consulting with the Director of Active Lifestyles.Contributes to the preparation of performance reviews for staff.Participates in the interview process for hiring new department staff.Ensures that required paperwork is submitted to HR for employee related matters.Ensures that department policies and procedures are carried out.Stays within budget when purchasing supplies or equipment.Plans, organizes and prioritizes responsibilities and tasks.Keeps accurate and appropriate records and prepares reports in a timely manner.Facilitates, attends, and participates in various departmental and management meetings as required.Benefits
