A Line Cook is a key member of the Kitchen team at St. James Winery, Inc.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for preparing all foods according to standard recipes and as specified by guests. The ideal candidate will have good working knowledge of fry cooking, accepted standards of sanitation, and operating kitchen equipment. They must be able to read, write, and understand English, as well as possess basic mathematical skills and manual dexterity.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares all foods in accordance with standard recipes and guest specifications.
- Cuts, prepares, and cooks menu items to meet quality and presentation standards.
- Checks and controls the proper storage of product and portion control, including high-cost meat items.
- Maintains clean and organized work stations, refrigeration units, and storage areas.
- Ensures all equipment is clean and in proper working condition.
Additional Duties
- Performs general cleaning tasks using standard property cleaning products as assigned by supervisor.
- Keeps floors dry and clean to avoid slip/fall accidents.
- Assists with cross-training, moving supplies, and equipment as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Culinary or apprenticeship program preferred.
- Good working knowledge of fry cooking, sanitation, and kitchen equipment operation.
- Basic mathematical skills and ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Sufficient manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 150 pounds.
