What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steward/Dishwasher position at St. James Winery, Inc.?
Duties:
The following duties are typical for this position. Employees may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Quickly clear dirty tables and prepare tables for resetting. Promptly and consistently reset all service ware as prescribed.
- Maintain stock and cleanliness of stations for all meal periods with necessary equipment including service ware, linen and condiments.
- Greet guests in a pleasant and courteous manner, serve beverages to begin their dining experience and replenish as necessary.
- Transport all dirty tableware from dining room to dishwashing area for proper cleaning.
- Respond to cues and act quickly and appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guests’ needs to correct server immediately
- Communicate with server/host(ess) to assure efficient seating, table utilization, and customer service
- Clean-as-you-go mentality
- Promptly and carefully sort soiled silverware so that it can be put through the dish machine properly. Quickly wash all silverware and replace in appropriate storage areas
- Keep dish machine properly cleaned and filled with water per property standards. This includes disassembling the dish machine to ensure proper cleaning
- Pre-scrape and pre-rinse items prior to running them through the dish machine
- Keep dish area organized (i.e. sorting dishes/silverware to keep a functional dish area
- Clean kettles, skillets, pots and pans promptly and completely the the cooks can carry out their work
- Must sweep, mop and take out the trash during and after their shift
- Sort glasses and stack in appropriate areas
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.
- Performs general cleaning tasks using standard property cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards
- walks and stands during the entire shift
- keep floors dry and clean to avoid slip/fall accidents
- Performs other duties as requested, such as crossing training, moving supplies and equipment, cleaning up spills, etc.
- cleans and rolls/unrolls mats
- Report any suspicious persons or activity to a supervisor immediately
Qualifications and Experience
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of service ware and how to maintain same in order to compliment guest experience.
- Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Ability to read and understand the English language so as to fully comprehend job requests, caution notices and similar written materials.
