Position Title: Academic Dean
Location: New York
Salary Range: Compensation for Academic Dean position is between $80,000-$110,000 depending on education level, experience, and qualifications.
Reports to: Head of School

Position Summary:
This role focuses on implementing a rigorous high school curriculum by supporting teachers with tools and coaching to help students excel. The individual teaches one to two courses annually, exemplifying strong classroom practices. They uphold the values of Catholic education, emphasizing faith, character development, and civic responsibility. The role also involves fostering a safe and respectful learning environment, maintaining knowledge of New York State educational standards, and overseeing testing, including PSATs, SATs, and AP Exams. Additionally, the person supports academic reporting processes, such as grade reports and parent-teacher conferences.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- At least 5 years experience as a classroom teacher, with experience teaching at the High School level preferred
- A bachelor’s degree from a competitive university is required, a master’s degree is preferred in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a similar field
- A deep respect for and commitment to preserving and building upon the legacy of urban Catholic education
- Experience leading professional development, coaching teachers, or leading an academic team is preferred
- A relentless work ethic and a high degree of patience to push through difficult challenges
- Experience with data-driven assessments to achieve student academic goals and inform instructional decisions and interventions
- Technological proficiency and adaptability Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to balance collaboration (with teachers, principals, and network leadership and staff) with strong leadership and to set goals and build buy-in from teachers
- Demonstrated openness to feedback, and a willingness to be reflective in order to grow as an educator and the school-wide instructional leader
- Maturity, sense of humor, humility, and a “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree is preferred in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a similar field
- Successful experience leading adults and managing cultural change
- Must pass a background check
