Essential Job Functions
Provides assistance to customers by preparing library facilities for their events; provides logistical and technical support to accommodate specific program / event needs. Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Development and with an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Events & Venues Technician will :
Arranges meeting rooms, event spaces, and theater stage and lobby areas, such as : moving tables and chairs around, and occasionally putting tablecloths on the tables, as well as pushing pianos or other large equipment.
Assists patrons and coworkers during events and meeting room bookings. Help with laptop / projector connectivity issues, audio issues, operation of equipment for events and meeting rooms, running theater visual and audio equipment, wiring mics, and other tasks related to audio / visual needs.
Maintains equipment, including filters and bulbs of projectors, bulbs of stage lights, battery replacements for mics and other equipment, and equipment replacements as necessary.
Helps maintain the Library events scheduling software. Uses software to ensure rooms are set up correctly and events signage is displayed correctly.
As needed and using standards and procedures provided by the Facilities department, cleans and stocks meeting rooms and event spaces, servery and storage areas, windows, theater, and other areas to return them to original and functional condition.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience with professional audio-visual equipment
Hours
Assigned to full-time (40 hour workweek).
Partial days, evenings, and weekends are required. The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday, 12 : 00pm through 8 : 00pm, variable Fridays and Saturdays based on meeting room schedule.
Wages
Starting / Hiring Range : $15.91 - $19.10 Hourly
Total Salary Range : $15.91 - $22.28, Hourly
Requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.

Practical experience and proficiency with computers, including the Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Windows, Mac OS, and communication technologies. Stay current with new technologies.

Physical agility and strength to bend, reach, lift, and move equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and to stand for long periods of time.
Spanish language skills preferred.
