Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for pet owners and their beloved animals, providing exceptional customer service while managing the front desk operations of our veterinary clinic. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a welcoming environment for both clients and their pets, while also supporting the veterinary staff in delivering high-quality care.

Duties

  • Greet clients and their pets upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update client information as necessary.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, procedures, and pet care.
  • Process payments and manage billing inquiries with attention to detail.
  • Assist veterinary staff with patient intake, including gathering medical histories and performing initial assessments.
  • Utilize veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with clients about their pets’ health needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.
  • Handle animal restraint as needed during examinations or treatments.
  • Provide basic animal care, including monitoring animals in the waiting area.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and animal handling techniques is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems for scheduling and record keeping.
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures is beneficial.
  • A passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing excellent care.
