Job Summary
We are looking for teachers who are committed to inspiring a love of learning in their students through the development and application of thoughtful, meaningful learning experiences for students. A teacher at St. John School plans and teaches their subject area, aligns the curriculum with Massachusetts state standards, provides the use of real life applications and simulations to instruct students by working with the gardening, drama, art, music, and gym departments; instructs the use of tools, materials, processes, and applications of technology in the development of lessons, and uses formal and informal classroom and district assessments.
Our successful teachers understand the value of working cooperatively and collaboratively with adults in a team-based setting. We are looking for an educator who embraces a growth mindset in dedication to improving their own practice, while instilling positive mindsets in their students.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Education or subject area
Preferred: Master’s degree in Education or subject area
Experience
At least 2-3 years of experience in teaching or working in schools
Scaffolding and differentiation of content and skills
Classroom organization and management
Innovative and project-based curriculum design and pedagogy.

Job Description
Elementary - teach core subjects: math, science, English, social studies
Utilize curriculum in accordance with Massachusetts State Standards
Support student learning through project-based learning with music, art, drama, gardening, and technology teachers
Maintain discipline in accordance with Responsive Classroom and the student handbook
Submit lesson plans through our online portal one week in advance
Provide appropriate feedback on student work
Complete grading, comments, and progress reports in a timely manner
Attends faculty meetings ready to discuss ways to improve the academic
Enjoys teaching and supporting the school’s mission to care for all students
Assess students' needs and design appropriate differentiated instruction
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Establish and maintain professional working relationships with faculty, administrators, supportive staff, parents, and students.
Additional Responsibilities
Maintain classroom and shared spaces
Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and integration of new learning into one’s teaching practice
Participate in all safety drills, including fire, lockdown, and evacuation.
Represent the school and what it stands for positively at public events, admissions events, community events, development events, etc., some of which take place outside of the regular school day and calendar
Develop and sustain relationships with colleagues that benefit their students and further one another’s professional growth.
Develop and sustain relationships with parents that support each student's well-being and increasing autonomy.
Serve as a role model for students and colleagues.
Other school day duties such as morning duty, lunch duty, and dismissal duty
Support of Professionalism
All faculty work with the Director of Academics and are supervised in curriculum and pedagogy through the partnership. Teachers will be observed regularly, and participate in four, formal observations
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
