Job Overview:
St. John Paul II Catholic High School is offering a unique opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Dean of Academics to join our leadership team. Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a vision for academic excellence that aligns with the school's mission and goals.
- Oversee curriculum development, ensuring alignment with state standards and best practices.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze student performance data to inform instructional practices and interventions.
Faculty Development:
- Support and mentor teachers in the development and delivery of effective instructional strategies.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive professional learning community.
Student Achievement:
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and close achievement gaps.
- Coordinate assessment programs and ensure the effective use of assessment data.
- Oversee academic support services, including tutoring and enrichment programs.
- Support the development and implementation of individualized education plans (SSP).
Administrative Duties:
- Assist in the development of the academic budget.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with the Principal and other administrators on school-wide initiatives and policies.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and academic programs.
Community Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, faculty, and community stakeholders.
- Promote a positive school culture that values academics combined with the Catholic faith.
- Represent the school at academic events, meetings, and conferences.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with educational trends and research.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with a record of effective classroom practice.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within an educational setting is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment methods.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and management skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to drive decision-making.
