What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School ELA Long Term Substitute Teacher position at St. John Regional Catholic School?
The long-term Elementary School ELA Substitute Teacher would be responsible for the direct supervision and instruction of students within the school during the teacher’s absence. They will follow the curriculum as provided by the principal and will plan, organize, and implement the instructional program in a Catholic environment where every child is recognized as a unique child of God.
Essential Functions
- Actively supervise students at all times
- Respond to all parent communication in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration
- Oversee the instruction of students following the plans provided by the regular teacher
- Follow the daily routine of the teacher and fill in for duties outside the classroom such as morning drop-off or pick-up as needed
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, assistants, staff, and administration
- Interact effectively and respond to communication in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.
Position Qualifications
- Degree in Education preferred.
- Current MSDE certification preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and supervision.
- Experience teaching in an elementary school setting.
- Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of a state and federal fingerprint background check, VIRTUS Training completion, and all necessary paperwork.
- Support and uphold Catholic moral and social teaching and the mission of SJRCS (practicing Catholic preferred).
- Demonstrates ability to operate with a growth mindset and seek opportunities for feedback.

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
