This role aids in the safety of patients, staff, hospital visitors and property by executing our fire safety protocols and policies. Assists in evacuations, fire drills and training exercises conducted by the Director of Emergency Management Fire Life and Safety. The Fire Emergency Response Associate will work directly with the Director of Emergency Management Fire Life and Safety and coordinate with keeping current and up-to-date inspection records and logs concerning fire safety and conduct routine inspection patrols for any fire hazards. This role assists with maintaining compliance with healthcare facility fire safety regulations.This position is critical for ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals within the hospital, requiring a pro-active and safety oriented individual capable of handling high-pressure situations with focus, confidence and stoic skill.Responsibilities : Respond promptly to fire alarms, reports of fire hazards and emergency situations.Assist in fire suppression efforts by utilizing fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and fire hoses in coordination with emergency responders.Support or lead the safe evacuation of patients, especially those with mobility impairments or medical needs during fire drills or actual fire emergency events.Participate in fire drills and simulations to maintain preparedness for real fire emergency events, ensuring staff and patients are familiar with evacuation routes.Conduct routine inspections of fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, fire alarms, emergency exits, emergency lighting and sprinkler heads, ensuring compliance with healthcare safety standards and regulations.Assist in identifying fire hazards in patient rooms, hallways and other areas of the hospital and help implement corrective actions to mitigate risk.Report unsafe conditions and support mitigation efforts.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire safety procedures and policy and emergency response protocols.Collaborate with other emergency response teams, such as medical and security personnel and provide constructive crisis management order until the Director of Emergency Management Fire Life and Safety and / or the Emergency Fire Life and Safety Manager arrive.Assist with maintaining accurate records of fire safety inspections, drills and incident reports to ensure compliance with hospital safety protocols and regulations.Requirements : High school diploma or equivalent.F-01 Certificate of Fitness (pertains to when the fire alarm system is out of service, this certificate allows the role to act as fire watch).Familiarity with hospital operations and patient care environments.Familiarity with fire safety equipment and emergency response protocols.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and other departments.An ability to stay calm and focused under high pressured situations.A proficiency with Libre or Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.The ability to accurately type between 20-50 words per minute.Have an understanding of fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems and their proper use.Must know how to properly report fire emergencies.Efficiently manage time to conduct day-to-day duties and inspection patrols.Must be detail-oriented when logging inspection reports and / or incidents.Physical Requirements : Must have the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment such as fire extinguishers or hoses as required.The ability to perform inspection patrols that involve stairs or confined spaces.Ability to work in potentially hazardous environments.Ability to remain vigilant and report potential hazards.Exposure to emergency situations, including smoke, heat and fire.Exposure to other emergency situations and events, including disasters, chemical spills or other crisis situations.#J-18808-Ljbffr
