Job Summary:
The Informatics Specialist II plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between clinical practice and information technology. This position is responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, and supporting clinical information systems to enhance patient care, improve efficiency, and optimize workflow.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical System Analysis
- Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and other stakeholders to identify clinical workflow inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to understand the specific requirements of clinical departments
- Analyze existing clinical information systems to identify gaps and areas for enhancement
- Perform analysis related to understanding, reviewing, interpreting, and documenting current workflows in clinical areas as well as understanding the impact on relevant downstream systems
- Document user requirements and business needs for clinical systems using various methods (e.g. flowcharts, diagrams)
- Based on analysis, plan for and accommodate the impact of system changes and enhancements
- Requirements Gathering
- Elicit, document, and validate requirements from various stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, and staff
- Review and provide feedback on new ideas, products, and system changes
- Create detailed functional specifications that clearly outline the desired system capabilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure requirements align with business objectives
- ???????System Design and Implementation
- ???????Participate in the design and development of clinical information systems, ensuring alignment with clinical workflows and organizational goals
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement and configure clinical systems, including electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support systems (CDSS), and other relevant applications
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including user manuals, training materials, and workflows
- Assist in the implementation of new clinical information systems, including testing, training, and go-live support
- ???????Maintenance and Support
- ???????Monitor system performance and identify and resolve technical issues
- Provide ongoing maintenance for existing clinical systems
- Perform system upgrades and patches as needed
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to users

- Training
- ???????Develop and deliver training programs for Meditech providers (MD/DO, NP, PA, Residents)
- Conduct training sessions for end-users on new systems or system enhancements
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including user manuals, training materials, and process flows
- ???????Documentation and Quality Improvement
- ???????Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and training materials
- Effectively manage Help Desk tickets and other vendor application tickets
- Ensure tickets are acknowledged and routinely updated timely, communicate ticket stats to requestor, and close tickets once issue is resolved
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes

- ???????Contribute to clinical informatics projects, including requirements gathering, testing, and implementation
- Contribute to project planning and execution by providing input on timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables
- Track project progress and identify potential risks or issues

- Manage expectations and address concerns in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, or a related field required
- Mater's Degree in Health Informatics or a related field preferred
- Certification in Clinical informatics preferred
- 5 years experience in clinical informatics or a related field
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and processes
- Experience with clinical systems, such as electronic health records and clinical decision support systems
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with healthcare industry standards and regulations (e.g. HIPAA)
- Experience with project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall)
