POSITION DESCRIPTION
Part Time Property Staff Assistant
Position Title: Property Staff Assistant
Part Time: 15-25 hrs/week, includes some evenings/weekends
Compensation: $25.00/hr
Position Summary: This position ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all church members, guests, and community members, including unhoused individuals. Under the direction of the Director of Administration, the Property Staff Member performs daily maintenance duties, prepares spaces for events, and provides exceptional customer service. This role often serves as the first point of contact for visitors and is critical in maintaining the church's mission of service and hospitality.
Essential Functions:
Facility Maintenance:
- Perform basic cleaning of facilities, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, glass cleaning, kitchen cleaning, trash pick-up in rooms and common areas (sidewalks, parking lot, patio, portico, steps), and restocking of bathroom supplies (hand towels, toilet paper, soap).
- Maintain storage areas to keep equipment in its proper location (secure, easily found, in working order).
- Monitor compliance with the facility use and reservation policy and correct or report as necessary.
Event Setup and Support:
- Review event request details on Master Calendar to determine which events require setup and when.
- Prepare all meeting spaces to include, but not limited to, setting up tables, chairs, stages, moving podiums, etc., for events on site, and ensure that event/room setups and breakdowns are completed accurately, safely, and efficiently according to event plan and diagrams through to completion.
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot, tear down, and secure audio/visual (A/V) and other equipment.
- Set up hospitality food and/or beverage stations as needed for events.
- Address all guest comments, questions, concerns, or complaints in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Being present for the entirety of an event to maintain cleanliness and to be available for volunteers and guests as needed.
- Security and Safety:
- Monitor the security of the property and report any suspicious or dangerous behaviors or conditions to the Director of Administration.
- Making sure the unhoused are not loitering on or in front of the property and being able to do this with kindness.
- Consistently survey the property for any hazards or issues that may arise and report conditions to the Executive Director, Administration.
- Community Engagement:
- Serve as a welcoming presence for all visitors, including the unhoused community.
- Establish and maintain respectful relationships with unhoused individuals, offering assistance and information about available resources.
- Address concerns or needs of unhoused community members in a respectful and supportive manner, while ensuring their safety and dignity.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to church members, volunteers, guests, and visitors.
- Ensure any guest concerns, comments, or complaints are handled in a professional and courteous manner.
Other Duties as Assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team and independently.
- Hands-on experience with basic cleaning and maintenance tasks, including but not limited to cleaning and disinfection, removal of hazardous waste, cleaning and polishing furniture, wood floors and fixtures, and glass cleaning.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and text.
- Compassionate and service-oriented attitude, especially in working with diverse populations, including unhoused individuals.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 15-25 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required to accommodate church events and community programs.
