St. John's Nursery School is located in Westwood, MA. We serve children ages 2.9 to 5 years old and have a total of 41 children between our preschool and pre-K program. We have been educating children for 51 years.
Position: Preschool Assistant Teacher
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and caring early childhood educator to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with young children, understands the importance of hands-on learning, and thrives in a collaborative, supportive school culture.
Our class hours are 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM, Monday through Friday, with the option to work an extended day program until 2:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in early childhood education (required)
- Early Education and Care (EEC) certification (required- Teacher or Lead Teacher Certified)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred)
- Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early learning
- Ability to create a warm, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
Duties:
- Assist the lead teacher in managing the classroom and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Support children in their academic and social development.
- Assist with classroom organization and preparation of materials.
- Supervise children during activities, meals, and outside times.
- 15 minutes of prep time before the children arrive and after they leave.
