Position Overview and Responsibilities St. John’s seeks a long-term, high school substitute Latin teacher to cover a family leave from March 10, 2025 to June 6, 2025. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching with an approach that includes reading, writing, speaking, listening, and culture using technology as a vehicle for learning gains. World Language faculty members in the High School at St. John’s teach five sections and may be assigned an additional supervisory duty. Classes meet five times within a seven-day rotating schedule. We seek a teacher who promotes curiosity and inquiry among students, engages all learners, uses technology as a vehicle for learning gains, and works with students to connect content to the real world in the classroom setting. All members of the faculty are expected to give witness to our mission at St. John’s. In addition to classroom teaching responsibilities, we encourage all members of the faculty to be involved in the life of the school beyond the classroom through a wide range of co-curricular, intramural and interscholastic programs. For more information about St. John’s Prep, including our academic, spiritual and student life programs, please visit www.stjohnsprep.org Education and Experience ● Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Latin or related field of Classics. ● Previous teaching experience in high school is desirable. Physical Requirements (with or without accommodations): ● Standing/sitting for long periods of time. ● Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday. ● Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone. ● Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, and perform first aid and CPR. ● Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
