What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Operations Manager position at St. John's Riverside Hospital?
The Plant Operations Manager performs project management functions, such as developing project scope, manpower requirements and provides oversight/supervises staff through all phases of construction projects. Assures efficient operation of boilers, heat, ventilation and air-conditioning systems as well as maintenance of all hospital equipment. Supervises the repair of hospital equipment and the regular maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment. Develops scope, schedule and budget for projects. Oversees work schedules and payroll.
Establishes and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. Periodically inspects all buildings, systems, and equipment to ensure necessary status of maintenance and repair.
Keeps Director of Engineering informed as to status and progress of the department’s operation.
Designs and directs programs for the full maintenance of Hospital buildings and grounds, equipment, air-conditioning and ventilation systems and distribution lines for heat, water, electricity, sanitation, etc. Develops new procedures and techniques as necessary or advisable and upon recommendation of the Maintenance and Power Plant Supervisors. Assists Director of Plant Operations to plan, budget and design specific programs to achieve construction goals. May utilize department staff or outside contractors as necessary. Regularly reports status of equipment operation, possible interruption and other pertinent information to the Director of Engineering. Ensures that all employees are properly aware and informed of information, policies, and other matters. Develops process to stimulate ideas, suggestions, and innovations from department employees.
Develops, oversees and supervises department policies and procedures, standards of work performance for the maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems including boilers and other equipment that provide heat, cooling, steam, hot water, electricity, sanitation and medical gases. Implements and directs a preventive maintenance program to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant and all related operating equipment. Maintains documentation of all maintenance, repairs and testing as required by applicable codes and directives.
Implements and directs work repair to program to provide scheduled and emergency corrective repairs to all installed and movable equipment within the facilities.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- One year of advanced trade school or three years’ experience in maintenance field required, technical engineering training preferred.
- Five years of experience in all phases of construction including planning, scheduling, estimating construction projects.
- Familiarity with tools, methods of many trades and knowledge of building and safety codes.
- Strong communications skills and understanding of technical terms and manuals for installation and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Experience developing and maintaining budgets required along with strong computer skills.
- Must possess knowledge of the different building trades associated with construction.
- Knowledge of all trades in operations of boilers, motors and auxiliary equipment in a supervisory or lead position.
Salary : $90,000 - $95,000
