St John’s School is looking for passionate educators to join our community who know how to support middle school students and are committed to teaching the whole child. The ideal English candidate is knowledgeable about a wide range of literature including young adult literature and has experience with varied pedagogical and assessment practices. We seek teachers who have the flexibility to teach any middle school English course and value working in a highly collaborative teaching and learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a course load of 4 sections of Science 7 (Earth Science)
- Serve as an advisor to 12-14 students annually and guide and support the Social-Emotional Learning Program.
- Work as a collaborative member of a grade level and departmental team.
- Participate in a weeklong, grade-level overnight trip annually
- Engage in shared middle school responsibilities and duties as assigned including DaVinci activity periods, study halls, and student supervision.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Science education, or related field (physical science/physics). Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of prior, relevant classroom teaching experience teaching middle school students.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community.
- An understanding and commitment to cultural competency and how to support a diverse student population of learners.
