Position Summary: The Spiritual Care Partner plays a vital role in providing spiritual care and support to residents, families, and staff within the nursing home community. This role involves fostering a sense of spiritual well-being and supporting individuals from diverse theological backgrounds and life experiences, including those with dementia. Responsibilities include:
- Provide Spiritual Care: Offer compassionate spiritual guidance and support to residents, families, and staff members, respecting and appreciating diverse theological perspectives and life experiences.
- Lead Worship Services: Lead religious services, prayers, and spiritual gatherings in both formal and informal settings, creating inclusive and meaningful experiences for all participants.
- Support Elder Adults: Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity towards elder adults, particularly those with dementia, ensuring their spiritual needs are met with empathy and patience.
- Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Team: Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, including nurses, social workers, and therapists, to integrate spiritual care into overall resident care plans.
- Facilitate Spiritual Programs: Develop and facilitate spiritual programs and activities that engage residents in meaningful ways, promoting spiritual well-being and community connection.
- Provide Crisis Support: Offer emotional and spiritual support during times of crisis, illness, and end-of-life care, supporting residents, families, and staff through the grieving process.
- Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate records of spiritual assessments, visits, and interventions using electronic health record systems as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field.
- Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.
- Ordination or endorsement by a recognized religious or spiritual organization.
- Proven experience in pastoral care, spiritual leadership, or related roles.
- Strong understanding and respect for diverse spiritual beliefs and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to flex hours if needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional transportation of residents.
