SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Director of Compliance and Special Education Services typically oversees compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding special education while ensuring appropriate services and support for students with disabilities

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
As the Director of Compliance and Special Education Services, you will assume a critical role in ensuring that our educational institution adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education services, oversee pupil appraisal / child find activities, and coordinate special services - Speech / Language, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Medicare. You will oversee compliance efforts, develop and implement policies and procedures, provide leadership to direct staff, provide guidance to all other staff, and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the provision of high-quality special education services to students with diverse needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop, review, and update policies and procedures related to special education compliance in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are effectively communicated to staff members and stakeholders.
- Monitor compliance with special education laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to assess the effectiveness of compliance efforts.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff members on special education compliance requirements, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide ongoing support and professional development opportunities to ensure staff members are knowledgeable and skilled in compliance matters.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Ensure that IEPs are developed in accordance with legal requirements and reflect the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to promote a collaborative approach to special education compliance.
- Serve as a liaison between the educational institution and regulatory agencies, advocating for the needs of students with disabilities.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to special education compliance.
- Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting compliance status, trends, and areas of concern.
- Stay informed about changes in special education laws, regulations, and case law.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure that the educational institution operates within legal parameters and mitigates compliance risks.
- Accepts other duties as may be assigned which are related to the scope of the job and outlined in their key performance indicators.
