Title: Retail Assistant, Part-time (25 hours a week)
Reports to: Thrift Store Manager
Location: St. John XXIII Thrift Store | Fort Myers FL
Classification: Hourly/Nonexempt
Overview
Proactively assist in the fulfillment of the mission of the Thrift Store through the effective and timely support of customers, donors, and volunteers. Responsible to maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment in the store.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversite of volunteers at all skill, age, and physical function levels
- Maintain and/or direct volunteers to appropriate distribution areas to ensure safe storage and minimal damage of donations in the back room and safe placement of merchandise on the sales floor.
- Procure, store and stock all items purchased for store.
- Sort, categorize, price and display all donations for sale floor
- Maintain files, receipts, daily cash register documentation
- Prepare weekly cash register documentation and receipts for Parish Bookkeeper.
- Close/Open the store and balance daily register/card terminals, prepare daily deposit.
- High School degree or equivalent
- 1-3 years of work-related experience in stocking, logistics and/or retail.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience operating cash register operating credit card machine.
- Knowledge of how to prepare bank deposits.
- Understanding of safety in loading and unloading merchandise.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs./carry bags/boxes/furniture donations/merchandise regularly
- Ability to maintain balance while utilizing a ladder for merchandise and/or donations
- Valid driver's license
