What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Intelligence Developer position at St Johns Community Health?
Under the direction of the Director of Business Intelligence, the developer works to analyze and implement Business Intelligence and the related BI technologies necessary to support data and information management. Creates actionable insights from data and information, creates visual analytics that tell a story to support and drive action.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Accounting, Finance, Quality, or related field.
- 1 year of experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
- 2 years of experience in a Healthcare Analytics role.
- 3 years of experience utilizing MS SQL, Python, Power BI Dataflows, DevOps, and SharePoint.
- Full proficiency in Microsoft office applications; Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Forms, Teams, PowerBI, OneNote, OneDrive, and OneLake. An equivalent combination of certification(s), education, and/or experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish (verbal and written) preferred.
Requirements
- Performs time studies, prepares flow charts and process maps to create visual representation of current and desired future state.
- Demonstrates expertise in BI tools and leverages appropriate tool for the stated problem.
- Implements data warehousing technologies – conforms to best practice.
- Works with end users to map out and develop workflows and support information needs/deliverables with related data.
- Becomes fluent in and contributes toward constant improvement of St John’s Community Health capabilities, processes, and culture.
- Develops rapport with team members and other agency partners, providing day-to-day contact, managing the relationship & expectations, and troubleshooting conflicts with partners and team members as they arise.
- Contributes to building a team environment that facilitates mutual respect and partnership across all functions.
- Under the direct supervision of the BI Director, assists in the development, monitoring, and presentation of internal performance and initiatives.
- Complete additional duties as needed or as assigned by the Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics.
- Advanced understanding of internal data management systems including EHR, GL and other enterprise/subsidiary systems.
- Contemporary knowledge of best practices related to data warehousing, ETL, and other processes.
- Extensive understanding and knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics and Serverless SQL workspaces.
- Strong knowledge of PowerBI with the ability to manage multiple Workspaces and Dataflows.
- Ability to identify and define business problems, issues, and demonstrate an intuitive ability to discern what is important.
- Creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning.
- The desire to drive positive change, educate and mentor staff to evolve internal competency.
- Strong analytical, presentation and listening skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, high-energy individual who can function in a high demand, performance driven environment.
- Statistical process control knowledge highly desirable.
