Essential Functions:
- Transport people served and/or packages to and from destinations.
- Arrive at destinations in a timely matter.
- Always be professional with the people you transport, as well as the staff you receive and transfer the person served to.
- Assist the people served with loading and unloading from vehicles when needed.
- Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use.
- Report issues with company vehicles to supervisor; cleanliness, physical damage, repairs, and maintenance needs. [ER1]
- Assist with keeping company vehicles in compliance with state regulations: vehicle repairs, inspection, and registration.
- Keep mileage records.
- Ensure the safety and security of people always supported to include: all persons served are always free from harm.
- Ensure that all incidences are reported to the required parties in a thorough and timely manner.
- Ensure that all residences and vehicles for which the agency has responsibility are maintained in a safe, secure, and esthetically pleasing condition.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to gain a working knowledge of St. John’s Community Services policies and procedures.
- Ability to act as a representative of St. John’s Community Services to the public.
- Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with other staff members and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
- Ability to always maintain a polite and professional disposition.
- Ability to keep a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to keep a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods
Education and Experience [ER1]
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required;
- One or more years related experience working with persons with disabilities required; experience in community-based programs preferred;
- Must meet SJCS and funding jurisdiction current requirements for criminal background/records check.
- A valid health certificate to meet current funding jurisdiction requirements required.
- A valid state-issued driver’s license with a current driving record in good standing is required.
