What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Learning Center Head Teacher position at St. Johns High School?
The Learning Center is the district's alternative school, supporting a small cohort of 9th - 12th grade students to complete their graduation requirements via online curriculum. The Learning Center is open to enrolled students Monday through Thursday, from 7:45am until 11:45am. This teaching position's hours are 7:30am to 12:30pm, with the possibility of the employee working additional hours at the high school to be considered full-time, should there be a part-time position available and appropriate for the individual's credentials.
Qualifications:
- College Degree, must provide Transcripts
- Valid and Current Arizona Teaching Certificate
- Able to obtain or possess an Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Reports to: Principal
Job and Performance Responsibilities:
- Planning and Preparation: The teacher consistently plans instruction/activities using the state standards, effective strategies, resource, and data to meet the needs of all students.
- Learning Environment: The teacher uses resources, routines and procedures to provide a respectful, positive, safe, student-centered learning environment.
- Instructional Skills: The teacher uses effective instructional delivery strategies and engages students in higher-order thinking skills.
- Professionalism: The teacher maintains a commitment to professional ethics, communicates effectively, demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content and the developmental needs of students, and takes responsibility for and participates in professional growth that results in enhanced student learning.
- Other duties: The teacher performs other duties as assigned by the principal and superintendent.
Evaluation: The teacher is evaluated by the high school principal as outlined in state law and board policy.
