Job Summary: This is scientific and technical work involving the management and optimization of field data collection systems.
Job duties include
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer engineering, electronic engineering or related field and one year of experience in telemetered data collection computer, sensors or network systems; or an associate degree from an accredited community college and three years of experience in telemetered data collection computer, sensors, or network systems.
Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
SJRWMD has determined this to be a mandatory-testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes. Any offer of employment for a mandatory-testing position and will be contingent upon successfully passing a drug screening paid by SJRWMD. Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.
Periodic field visits
Applicant must have ability to endure harsh outdoor environments, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Licenses
Requires a valid Florida driver license.
Travel
Requires travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight. Ability to drive oneself to and from meetings.

Starting Salary Range: $56,180.80 - $70,220.80
Starting Salary Is Based On Qualifications And Experience.

- Manages, operates, and maintains automated data collection and transmission systems, including implementing, maintaining, and documenting configuration control processes; installing, operating, and maintaining various data collection and transmission systems; and reviewing system performance, reliability, security, and availability.
- Research innovative technology, developing plans for upgrades and improvements. Plans, assists, and manages projects that implement upgrades and improvements to data collection networks and data transmission systems.
- Creates and provides comprehensive training and provides support in the field for staff on the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of data collection and transmission systems.
- Plans, conducts, and reviews site audits and other field operations to ensure electronic equipment and power system installations are optimized for best performance. Analyzes network performance to determine improvements and potential for optimization.
- Develops technical performance specifications for data collection sensors and systems. Designs, builds, and tests components to interface the telemetry system with various hydrologic sensors.
