Job Summary: This is complex, technical work analyzing, validating and correcting hydrologic data collected by District staff and analyzed in the District, DEP and other laboratories. Develop and implement quality control/assurance protocols and report quality control/assurance findings. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for data collection and data quality control/assurance review.
Job duties include:
- Analyze, validate, and correct hydro-meteorological data collected by the Water Resource Information (WRI); compute stream discharge and develop discharge ratings from flow measurements; compute evaporation/transpiration and other hydro-meteorological parameters from indirect measurements.
- Develop and implement methods for performing quality checks on all data collected by the WRI; protect data from revision after quality checking; provide quality codes with all disseminated data; and publish periodic reports to summarize data availability and quality
- Measure discharge, installs equipment, and makes bathymetry measurements in the field. Perform other field operations as may be required.
- Develop and implement improved quality assurance methods and procedures for hydro-meteorological data collection, validation, processing, reporting, and dissemination; develop and implement standard operating procedures for field data collection; publish, update, and ensure compliance with relevant quality assurance standards; and evaluate data collection sensors and processes to ensure quality performance.
- Develop and present WRI’s quality assurance training.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology, a natural science, or engineering and two years professional experience in hydrologic-meteorologic data quality assurance or water quality assurance.
Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.
Periodic field visits:
Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Licenses:
Requires a valid Florida driver license.
Travel:
Requires travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight. Ability to drive oneself to and from meetings.
Additional Details:
Starting Salary Range: $56,180.80 - $70,220.80
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
