Job Summary: This is professional work performing applied research for technical projects in the environmental field for freshwater systems, preparing technical publications, and assisting in the design and performance of technical projects.
Job duties include:
- Assists in the development, evaluation and application of methods to improve the monitoring and assessment of biological conditions in pelagic, littoral and wetland environments.
- Utilizes accepted statistical and/or spatial data analysis or remote sensing methods and software to perform the duties and responsibilities listed above.
- Provides information to senior management, other government agencies, basin councils and committees, and the public, and serves as District representative.
- Engages in dialogue with team members and colleagues in agencies, consulting and research institutions for the furtherance of project objectives and level of service. Provides review of peer or consultants’ proposals and assessments.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, limnology, chemistry, botany, environmental science or related field and four years professional experience in the environmental field.
Professional experience in environmental protection or research can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Preferred Skills:
Compilation, management, and analysis of large databases; parametric, nonparametric and multivariate statistical analysis utilizing SAS or R software; application of empirical or mechanistic methods or models in biology or ecology; natural resource management problem solving.
Working Environment:
Mixed field work and office work.
Periodic field visits:
Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Licenses:
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
Additional Details:
Starting Salary Range: $56,180.80 - $70,220.80
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
