Project Manager -Bureau of District Projects and Construction
Job Summary: This is professional work providing functional management and administration of complex projects.
Job duties include:
- Project manager for regional construction projects - Serves as project manager for large and complex water resources construction projects. Coordinates project matters with consultants, contractors, construction management staff, external agencies, local governments, and other District staff. Reviews design plans and specifications for constructability prior to start of construction. Reviews cost estimates and scheduling for construction projects. Prepares governing board memorandums and presentations. Works with District contract staff on bids, contracts, and work orders. Prepares and negotiates scopes of work for individual work orders; reviews and comments on work orders prepared by others; tracks and coordinates work orders with contractor, including staffing, invoices, and change order requests. Provides construction progress reports; establishes and maintains construction project schedules and budgets during construction; and schedules and coordinates completion of tasks with construction contractors. Maintains communication with supervisors on progress, budget, and problems experienced during construction.
- Coordinates with contractors and District construction inspectors in the field to facilitate completion of construction projects. Advises District’s site construction inspector and District’s annual construction contractor on construction work plans, efficiency of construction operations, and design plans and specifications. Resolves problems experienced during construction.
- General administration and participation in District/Division/Bureau project planning and budgeting. Ensures project files are maintained in an organized manner, including records related to finances, contracts, permits, and funding agreements. Includes training, staff meetings, etc. May also include a minor amount of contract administration duties such as developing scopes of work, evaluating proposals and review of invoices. Evaluates need for construction and related work. Develops projects in conjunction with the other work units in accordance with the project delivery process.
Skilled In:
Understanding engineering issues and construction management. Communication skills both oral and writing. Recognizing problems, resolving conflicts; and involving others in defining problems and developing solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a field related to the function of the department and three years of experience in a related field, two of which must include management of complex projects.
Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required. Field visits would require enduring outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
License:
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

Starting Salary Range: $64,313.60 - $80,392.00
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
