Strategic Marketing Coordinator

Office of Communications

Job Summary: The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will create communications and marketing plans to enhance brand awareness and engagement across an 18-county area. They will track timelines and activities for all campaigns within the district and work with the team to ensure deadlines and objectives are met. This individual will utilize the research budget to plan and execute pre and post research surveys to ensure campaigns are targeting appropriate audiences with an effective, data-backed message. They will continue current campaigns, if proven to be meaningful and successful, and will have the opportunity to help develop new campaigns and initiatives to promote and change behavior as it relates to water conservation. This individual will analyze and present data to the team and leadership to guide campaign strategies districtwide.

Please note: If you are seeking a social media-specific role, this position goes beyond social media. While social media is an important component, it is not the sole focus. Instead, this role will work collaboratively with a social media coordinator, graphic designer, and media relations coordinators to develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies. The focus is on ensuring consistent messaging across multiple platforms, including newsletters, press releases, social media, the website, and outreach campaigns, to enhance public engagement and effectively communicate key initiatives.

Job Duties Include:

  • Develop and help implement campaign strategies and objectives to increase brand awareness, educate the public on the district’s work.
  • Manage timelines, tasks, and resources to ensure campaign milestones are met. Monitor campaign budgets and expenses.
  • Research similar entities to ensure we are messaging out timely information as it relates to water conservation and our mission.
  • Conduct research to identify industry trends, customer preferences, and competitors' activities to inform marketing initiatives.
  • Analyze marketing data, including campaign performance, customer feedback, and market trends, to identify areas of improvement and new opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing marketing activities, results, and recommendations.
  • Specializes in coordinating and executing marketing strategies and campaigns. Work within the team to ensure that campaigns are aligned with brand goals and are carried out smoothly across various channels (social media, email, print, etc.).
  • Ability to plan and strategize marketing events up to 6 to 12 months in advance.
  • Identify and create SWOT analyses (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) for each campaign.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field. Professional experience in these fields can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Two years of professional experience in marketing/or public relations with experience planning and executing marketing campaigns
  • Experience in developing or overseeing the creation of marketing materials.
  • Understanding of branding and messaging practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work as a team to achieve objectives.
  • Knowledge of marketing outreach strategies and best practices.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proficiency in using Excel and other project management software.
  • Prior experience working with research firms to guide messaging.
  • Familiarity with regional environmental issues and hot topics, demonstrating an understanding of the local context and the ability to communicate effectively about these subjects through the Jacksonville, Orlando and Palm Bay markets.

Additional Details:

Salary Range: $64,313 - $70,000

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
