Bishop LeBlond High School, serving scholars in grades nine through twelve, is a Catholic, college preparatory school providing a quality education by embracing academic excellence and promoting social and spiritual growth. Bishop LeBlond is the high school campus of the St. Joseph Catholic Academy located in St. Joseph, MO. The position is considered to be full time for the 2025-2026 school year, and reports to the Principal of Bishop LeBlond High School.
Bishop LeBlond High School seeks a dynamic teacher for Theology for the 2025-2026 school year. The teacher will help fulfill the mission of the Catholic Church by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of the students within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The teacher will provide an appropriate learning climate and activities to promote a love of learning, communicate well and build positive relationships. The teacher will collaborate with teammates and participate in professional learning and Faith formation.

Responsibilities:
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to the Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
- Plans for instruction with specific student objectives and logically sequenced instruction based on the approved curriculum.
- Uses appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
- Uses effective instructional methods according to professional best practice.
- Use a variety of methods to assess and monitor students' progress.
- Maintains current and accurate records.
- Practices positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
- Contacts parents when necessary for either academic or behavioral concerns
- Conferences with parents upon request and responds to messages in a timely manner
- Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocesan Schools Administrative Manual
- Demonstrates professional work habits by regular attendance, honoring schedules/deadlines, organizing work, and conducting assigned tasks in an effective and efficient manner
- Keeps the Principal informed of areas of need and concern
- Follows the Diocesan curriculum guide and covers all required content
- Serves on committees and performs other duties as directed by the Principal
- Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and supports instructional planning
- Demonstrates a willingness to respond to individual learning needs
- Attends school-wide functions and special events as required
- Prepare and implement effective lessons to teach the Diocesan Learning Standards.
- Promote positive relationships and effective communication with administration, faculty, staff, students, and school families.
- Maintain an appropriate learning environment and set high standards and expectations within the classroom.
- Demonstrate professional responsibility and maintain confidentiality, sound judgment and appropriate dress.
- Assists with planning and supervising Campus Ministry events. Some events may occur outside of contract hours.
- Works with students and staff to set up for liturgical activities such as All School Mass and Adoration.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited university or college.
- Teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement.
- Ability to utilize technology for instruction and learning.
- Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset.
