The St. Joseph County Department of Health (SJCDoH) seeks an Independent Contractor to assist in translating public health materials from English to Spanish. Materials may be in paper or electronic formats, and may include office forms, promotional materials, informational materials, and other items as needed. Translation may include “voice-over” work for video presentations, and other translation needs may be requested as needed.
The Consultant is required to have an advanced spoken and written mastery of the Spanish language. Prior experience in translating documents and written materials is a desired skill. Candidates should be skilled in utilizing document editing products such as Microsoft Office and should own a computer and equipment with which to perform their assignments. The Consultant will work with the SJCDoH to understand the scope of each assignment, and to establish appropriate timelines for completion of projects.
Compensation for the Consultant’s services is fixed at twenty-seven dollars ($27.00) per hour. Services will be billed to SJCDoH, and the department will compensate the Consultant thereafter. All payment of federal taxes, state taxes and withholdings are the responsibility of the Consultant. This contracted position includes no benefits whatsoever.
The Term of Agreement will start at an agreed upon date and can be terminated at any time by either party with written notice. The SJCDoH requires that the Consultant not engage in other business or professional activity that would be considered a conflict of interest.
