What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPECIAL EDUCATION DATA TECHNICIAN position at St. Joseph County ISD?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree or a minimum of 3 years of related office or data technician experience, with school office or data technician experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge of computers and software applications, especially the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps.
- High level of experience and competence of on-line data management system(s).
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration of said document(s).
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
- Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Executive Assistant for Special Education and support with special projects, as requested.
- Produce charts and data to help guide Special Education Supervisors as delegated by the Executive Assistant for Special Education.
- Assist the Special Education Monitor with tracking data of incarcerated youth (age 18-26) who had IEPs in school and who have not graduated.
- Coordinate and report OCR annual reports.
- Serve as the coordinator and contact person for the ISD student information system.
- Serve as the coordinator and contact person for the ISD special education database.
- Oversee technology issues with Illuminate and LEA’s student information system, including creating support tickets for said issues and monitoring the Core Data Logs.
- Communicate Illuminate releases, updates, and software technology issues to all users, county-wide.
- Add all new hires for ISD in the student information system and special education databases and exit accordingly.
- Oversee the data system for student records in the previous ISD’s electronic file management system, currently known as Intellicloud.
- Manage caseload changes for all ancillary staff as a supervisor requests.
- Oversee the management of ISD-assigned UIC codes with the State.
- Complete Illuminate core logs.
- Participate in various meetings for data quality improvements, as needed.
- Track and monitor eligible and ineligible IEPs for ISD and LEA’s.
- Track and monitor DPPD data to provide necessary documentation for auditors.
- Communicate effectively with ISD staff/administration, local districts, agencies, etc.
- Assist the Executive Assistant for Special Education with system rollovers, including Illuminate and PowerSchool.
- Assist the Executive Assistant of Special Education with Pupil Accounting and State reporting, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by St. Joseph County ISD Administration.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS: Executive Assistant for Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A 260-day position. Salary and conditions of employment are determined by the Board of Education.
